About Caliche's Frozen Custard.

  On a cold October day in 1996, David and Dana Wortham opened Scoopy's, their first frozen custard store, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The fledgling business had to endure one of the worst winters southern New Mexico had experienced in a long time, a frozen custard product unfamiliar to the public, and a less than desirable location. For three years the going was tough. However, the Worthams knew they had a unique concept and a wonderful product (Our own exclusive secret recipe that's second to none that you can only find at Caliche's Frozen Custard), so they were patient, continued to work hard and held fast to their belief, "Just get people to taste it and they will come back." And come back they did! By 2002, Scoopy's Frozen Custard had become one of the most talked about and successful businesses in New Mexico.

  Now as we look toward future growth, our business has a new name - Caliche's Frozen Custard, after our signature product in which we blend favorite toppings into our thick delicious custard. The name Caliche comes from the Spanish word for hard earth, and refers, to a similar, popular treat in the Midwest, which is called a "concrete". The word Caliche provides our company with a unique brand name. Caliche's will always serve the best quality products, with the friendliest, fastest, and most accurate service, in the cleanest most inviting environment possible.

  In early 2006 we introduced another great and refreshing product known as Desert Ice (Quality Italian Ice) available in many tantalizing flavors. This product has continued to increase in popularity and success.
